"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting by Kristina Česonytė is lively and full of energy. The background is a busy pattern of black and white lines. It creates a sense of movement, almost like a flow. Bold splashes of color break through. Bright pinks and blues stand out. They capture attention immediately. The style is abstract and expressive. It combines chaotic elements with rhythm and balance. Česonytė plays with contrasts. The orderly patterns clash with colorful, playful strokes. It feels dynamic and alive. This artwork invites viewers to explore. It engages imagination. Each glance might reveal something new.
