"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting features pink figures against a light blue background. The figures are stylized and simplified, with bold black lines outlining their shapes. They appear to be women depicted in a flowing, almost floating manner. The artist, Kristina Česonytė, uses a playful and abstract style. Her use of bright, contrasting colors and minimal detail creates a vibrant and energetic feel. This particular work, "From the Series 'Today My Venus Was Born' 5," showcases her unique approach to form and color, making the figures both eye-catching and thought-provoking.
