"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting shows a stylized abstract face composed of simple, continuous lines that form the outline of a face in profile view. The face has a long, curved nose, a closed eye, and full lips. Above the face, there's a circular shape that might represent a halo or a decorative element. The background has a rich texture of frenetic, multicolored scratch-like strokes in hues of pink, beige, black, and white, creating a dynamic and somewhat chaotic atmosphere. The bottom of the artwork features text, possibly including the artist's name and other details.
