Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting by Kristina Česonytė is striking. It's called "Abstraction in Kriste's style." The canvas is filled with small, rectangular sections. Each rectangle features different brush strokes and colors. Hues like bright greens, blues, and pinks pop against softer whites and creams. The gold background glows warmly, tying all these colors together. Česonytė's style in this piece is abstract and textured. The painting is busy yet harmoniously divided. It's modern and vibrant. Her brushwork varies from soft and sweeping to bold and energetic. This variety gives each rectangle its own character, yet they all contribute to a coherent whole. The overall effect is both lively and elegant.
