Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
In this painting by Kristina Česonytė, titled "1+1," there are two abstract figures presented. They look whimsical and quite dreamy. Each figure seems to have the shape of a woman, complete with facial features, swirling hair, and prominent figures. The background is simple, a pale color with hints of green. Swirling lines and shapes connect and surround the figures, creating a sense of motion and unity. The color green dominates, used both for the outlines of the figures and the decorative elements around them. Česonytė’s style here is contemporary and expressive, characterized by loose and flowing lines. Her use of simple outlines and minimal color focuses attention on the form and expression of the figures. This style gives a playful, yet thoughtful character to the work.
